With a book by Charles Busch adapted from the
original by Mark Davies,
lyrics by Boy George and music by George and Kevan Frost, this muscial
set in an abandoned London warehouse that was once the hottest dance
club in London seemed like one of those pop culture vehicles that
couldn't lose. The show is based on the unique life and career of
Boy George and performance artist Leigh Bowery.
Rosie O'Donnell's Broadway production of "Taboo," which starred Boy
George and Euan Morton in their Broadway debuts, Raúl
Esparza, Liz McCartney and
Jeffrey Carlson, garnered four Tony Award nominations.
Sadly, the musical closed after 100 performances.
