Lisa RayLisa Ray – ‘Tala’

An international talent with cross-cultural appeal, Lisa Ray is quickly emerging as a talent on the rise. Named “Star of the Future” at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival. Lisa Ray is an acclaimed actress whose film, “Water”, was nominated for a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 2007.She reunited with Deepa Mehta on “What’s Cooking” with her “Water” co-star, Seema Biswas, and she can be seen in the CBC mini-series “The Summit,” opposite Bruce Greenwood, Christopher Plummer and James Purefoy. Two of Lisa’s films premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2007, the drama “All Hat” directed by Leonard Farlinger, and “The World Unseen” directed by Shamim Sarif. Lisa’s other projects include “Kill Kill Faster Faster,” “A Stone’s Throw,” directed by Camelia Frieberg, the thriller “Seeking Fear,” and a romantic comedy “Quarterlife Crisis.” Born and raised in Toronto, of Polish and Bengali parents, Lisa frequently finds herself shuttling between homes in Toronto, London and Mumbai.

Lisa RaySheetal Sheth – ‘Leyla’

Sheetal Sheth burst onto the scene with raves in her debut film, "ABCD," as a promiscuous young girl struggling with the ties of family and tradition. She caught the attention of audiences everywhere in the film "Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World," starring, written and directed by Albert Brooks. Sheetal stars in Shamim Sarif's "The World Unseen." Sheetal won Best Actress Award at the Cinevue Film Festival for her work in "Wings of Hope." Her film “American Chai" won the Audience Award at the Slamdance Film Festival and Best Film at the Philadelphia Festival. She can be seen with Kal Penn and Mimi Rogers in "Dancing in Twilight" and "The Trouble with Romance."  She completed the adventure thriller "First Fear" and the romantic comedy "Why am I Doing This?"   Sheetal was raised with a strong commitment to community service and currently works with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles. She loves being the brand ambassador of the REEBOK NY Freestyle Shoe, and enjoys extreme sports such as skydiving, hang-gliding and bungee-jumping.

Lisa RayAntonia Frering – 'Reema'

Playing the extremely annoyed and protective mother of Lisa Ray’s Tala, Antonia has also appeared in "Toma Lá, Dá Cá," “Cobras & Lagartos,” Se Eu Fosse Voc,” “Callas e Onassis,” “You Can Run,” and “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.”

 

Lisa RayDalip Tahil
Playing Tala’s understanding father, veteran actor Dalip Tahil has appeared in the highly acclaimed 1982 international award-winning film “Gandhi” and two Merchant-Ivory English-language films: “The Deceivers” and “The Perfect Murder.” He made his acting debut in the 1974 film “Ankur,” and his first major role was in the Ramesh Sippy film “Shaan.” Dalip’s recent films include “Shakalaka Boom Boom,” “Partner” and “Race.” He has appeared in over 100 films.

Lisa RayNina Wadia – ‘Housekeeper’

Nina Wadia stars in the award-winning “Eastenders” and has been lighting up the British screen and stage since her Emmy-nominated performance in “Goodness Gracious Me”, and the sitcoms “All About Me”, “Perfect World” and “Chambers”.
Her dramatic turns have also included the Emmy-nominated “Waking The Dead”, the detective series “New Tricks”, and the widely popular special episode of “Casualty” involving a national phone in vote. Her wide-ranging talents have extended to the popular topical show, “Loose Women”, the docu-drama “Road To Martyrdom”, and a Bollywood film, “Namaste London” opposite venerable icon Rishi Kapoor.

Lisa RayRez Kempton – ‘Ali’

Rez Kempton’s film credits include “The Mystic Masseur” (Merchant Ivory), “My Son the Fanatic”, “Brothers in Trouble”, “Umar” and the soon to be released “Hari Puttar: A Comedy of Terrors” and “Stag Night of the Dead!” His television work in the US includes “MI-5”, “Locked Up Abroad” & “Lee Evans-So What Now?” Kempton was born in London and trained at the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama.
